Remakes. Reloads. Revivals. The past couple of years have seen the film industry relying on nostalgia to make some money. Just look at Superman or Bewitched or Starsky & Hutch and Miami Vice, all brought back from the dead. It’s not a matter of if a certain 15-20 year-old property is brought back from obscurity, it’s when. This coming year will see a few more things from my childhood. A live-action Transformers movie, a sequel to Robotech, a DVD release of Voltron, a computer-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. What’s next? What's left?
The industry tends to go through cycles too so I’m curious if 10-20 years down the line it’ll go into remake mode again and bring back whatever's big with the younger set these days. Sponge Bob Squarepants? Power Rangers? Spider-Man?

thats why they need to only allow x amount of movies a year, so they dont have to put out so much shit. just saw clerks 2 though... wasnt going in with any expectations but i really liked it. the critics hated it of course but what do you expect they all have fun jobs haha. As for the trasformers and TMNT, i boycott it, as well as superman, batman, spiderman, and the xmen. We are living in an era of a bunch of fan boys. But hey at least i have Snakes of a Plane to look forward to(8/18/06).
THE deuce
cool, i'll give clerks 2 a look if it comes here. and you are correct about the fanboys, they've all grown up and gotten jobs in the industry. this is the fruit of their labor!
