Quotable

"Look at my haircut. I am ready for the war."

So said Jose Mourinho as he unveiled his new Action Man haircut (bottom left).

He made headlines in most parts of the world after his uber-successful tenure as manager at Chelsea Football Club came to an abrupt end on Thursday. Aside from winning all the soccer championships England had to offer, he'll perhaps be best known for his outspoken personality that polarized his opponents, the press and fans of the game.

A compilation of his words of wonderment is here
. I found them to be a whole lot more entertaining than the mutterings of a typical coach at a post-game conference. I still find the first quote to be the best:

"Please don't call me arrogant, but I'm European champion and I think I'm a special one."

Nothing can stop the Grimace

I had no idea:

"In the first campaign of McDonaldland commercials beginning in 1971, Grimace was the 'Evil Grimace', with two pairs of arms with which to steal milkshakes. After that first campaign, the character was revised to be one of the 'good guys', and his number of arms was reduced by two."

More 'pods from Jobs

For the third year in a row, Steve Jobs has unveiled some new, fancy-pants iPods and for the third year in a row, I've got iPod envy.

What I'm learning from all these annual iPod events is:
  1. Apple keeps finding ways to top themselves
  2. iPods go obsolete after a year (depending on your point of view)
My 2nd-generation nano was awesome when I first got it. Then the awesome went to 11 when I jumped on the Nike+ train. But after seeing this new nano chubby, with it's video capability, bigger screen and extra capacity for $149, my nano is pretty limp. Basically, it's nothing more than a shuffle with a screen minus the clip. It still beats my two-year old click-wheel iPod with the monochrome screen though.

On the bright side, the iPhone's price drop means it should be relatively cheap and affordable by the time I actually make money. Too bad for all the early adopters though, that's $200 that could've been better spent.

Fast food Mystery

It may not seem like it, but the McDonald's Big n' Tasty is a quarter pound of beef; the internet doesn't lie. This leads me to my next question:

If they're both a quarter pound of beef, why do I pay more money for the Quarter Pounder with Cheese than the Big n' Tasty?

I want answers Hamburglar!!!
