After digesting it for a week, this movie is not good. It's got all the Wes Anderson standbys: quirky characters, deadpan humor, a soundtrack laced with British Invasion rock, the regular Wes Anderson players and the usual themes of family and belonging, all set in a world that's both familiar yet highly foreign. The formula worked in the past, but it just didn't click here. Get ready for a long 90 minutes.
Edit: I think I know what's wrong here. It's missing a central lead character that tied everyone or everything together. Rushmore had Max Fischer. The Royal Tenenbaums had Royal Tenenbaum and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou had The Zissou. Darjeeling has three bickering brothers all with their own set of problems, and none of whom stand out from the other.
